Sleepers
ALL OUR SLEEPERS ARE SUITABLE FOR STRUCTURAL RETAINING WALLS!
A Sleeper Retaining Wall would be the most popular of all timber retaining walls today. Both the Posts and Whalers (rails) of the wall are constructed with sleepers. The construction of this type of wall is very straight forward. It is also very common for smaller walls which most people can complete DIY.
It is important to remember to use posts and whaler that are strong enough to withstand the load placed on your wall by the soil for the next 20 plus years... not just the next three. This is an all too common mistake!
- Post spacings are recommended to be between 1.2m and 1.5m spacings. They must NOT exceed 1.5m.
Please check with your local council as to whether your wall needs to be engineered.
